2023-24 Season
Overview

Following a fantastic first season as Artistic/Executive Director of MOSA, Bridget Kibbey has announced an exciting new season.

Dear Friends,

This season invites us to a special landscape:

Celebrating musicians from or inspired by the Afro-Caribbean musical highway, who continue to enrich today’s American life with unparalleled sounds and stories!

We’ll encounter some of today’s top talent in this world, with spotlights on Cuban-born jazz pianist Manuel Valera, Colombian percussionist, composer and Latin Grammy Award-winning Samuel Torres, and a drummer with unparalleled depth and verve, Ulysses Owens Jr.

I’ll be launching my newest project, Leyenda, featuring the extraordinary clarinetist Louis Arques, joining up with Torres, as we traverse five centuries of music, while celebrating today’s Nuevo Latino luminaries. We’ll hear three world-premiere collaborations: A brand new Uptown Consort led by the fantastic baroque specialist Katie Hyun on violin, joined by George Meyer and Coleman Itzkoff. We’ll also have an up-close-and-personal experience with the stunning voice of soprano Ariadne Greif in intimate song literature of Debussy, Ravel, Hahn, and Schubert. Finally, our season finale will see Owens collaborate with Generation Y, an ensemble of most dynamic young jazz musicians.

Through it all, you’ll hear me join as the continuo for many of these incredible artists behind the harp - but also behind the mic - as together, we connect the dots along these musical highways and experience just how connected we are via a single pulse.

Welcome to MOSA’s 2023-24 season!

Fondly,
Bridget Kibbey
